The government of the United Arab Emirates on Monday started issuing 96-hour visas to airline passengers stranded in Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports because of a flight ban in Europe triggered by volcanic ash from Iceland.
Many of the stranded Europe-bound passengers are booked with Emirates Airlines, whose 30 planes are grounded because airports in Europe are closed as a safety precaution against the volcanic ash from an erupting volcano in Iceland.
